AUD/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7932; (P) 0.7952; (R1) 0.7963; More…

AUD/USD jumps notably in early US session but it’s staying well below 0.8065 resistance. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment as consolidation from 0.8065 might extend. But in case of another fall, downside should be contained by 0.7785 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.7328 to 0.8065 at 0.7783) to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 0.8065 will resume the medium term rise and target 100% projection of 0.6826 to 0.7833 from 0.7328 at 0.8335.

In the bigger picture, rise from 0.6826 medium term bottom is still in progress. At this point, there is no confirmation of trend reversal yet and we’ll continue to treat such rebound as a corrective pattern. But in any case, break of 55 month EMA (now at 0.8087) will target 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451. Break of 0.7328 support is needed to confirm completion of the rebound. Otherwise, further rise is now in favor.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD stays neutral at this point. Another rise will be mildly in favor as long as 55 4H EMA (now at 0.6577) holds. Above 0.6666 will resume the rebound from 0.6442 to 61.8% retracement of 0.6877 to 0.6442 at 0.6707 next. Sustained trading above there will argue rise from 0.6442 is probably resuming whole rally from 0.6269. Nevertheless, sustained break of 55 4H EMA will revive near term bearishness and bring retest of 0.6442 low instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) are seen as a medium term corrective pattern to the down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high). Fall from 0.7156 (2023 high) is seen as the second leg, which might still be in progress. Overall, sideway trading could continue in range of 0.6169/7156 for some more time. But as long as 0.7156 holds, an eventual downside breakout would be mildly in favor.

AUD/USD continues to lose upside momentum as seen in bearish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD. With 0.7448 minor support intact, there is no confirmation of topping yet. But in case of another rise, we’d expect upside to be limited by 0.7777/7833 resistance zone to bring near term reversal. On the downside, break of 0.7448 will indicate that rebound from 0.7158 is completed and turn bias back to the downside for 0.7144 key support level.

In the bigger picture, AUD/USD is staying inside long term falling channel and it’s likely that the down trend from 1.1079 is still in progress. Break of 0.6826 low will confirm this bearish case. We’ll be looking for bottoming sign again as it approaches 0.6008 key support level. Meanwhile, sustained break of 0.7833 resistance will be a strong sign of medium term reversal.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains on the upside as the rebound from 0.7158 extends. Further rise would be seen through 61.8% retracement of 0.7777 to 0.7518 at 0.7541. At this point, we’d expect strong resistance from 0.7777/7833 to limit upside. On the downside, below 0.7351 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 0.7144 key support level.

In the bigger picture, AUD/USD is staying inside long term falling channel and it’s likely that the down trend from 1.1079 is still in progress. Break of 0.6826 low will confirm this bearish case and target 61.8% projection of 0.9504 to 0.6826 from 0.7777 at 0.6122 next. We’ll be looking for bottoming sign again as it approaches 0.6008 key support level. Meanwhile, sustained break of 0.7833 resistance will be a strong sign of medium term reversal.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 0.7525; (P) 0.7552; (R1) 0.7586; More…

AUD/USD recovers further today but it’s seen as staying in corrective trading above 0.7500. Intraday bias remains neutral at this point. Upside of recovery should be limited below 0.7652 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 0.7500 will extend the fall from 0.8124 and target 0.7322/8 cluster support next. Nonetheless, decisive break of 0.7652 will indicate near term reversal and bring stronger rebound back to 0.7732 support turned resistance.

In the bigger picture, corrective rise from 0.6826 medium term bottom is likely completed at 0.8124, after hitting 55 month EMA (now at 0.8029). Decisive break of 0.7328 key cluster support (61.8% retracement 0.6826 to 0.8124 at 0.7322) will confirm. And in that case, long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) will likely be resuming. Break of 0.6826 will target 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8124 at 0.5496. This will now be the favored case as long as 0.7732 near term resistance holds.

AUD/USD’s fall from 0.7477 resumes by breaking 0.7219 temporary low. Intraday bias is back on the downside for retesting 0.7105 low. Firm break there will resume whole decline from 0.8006 for 0.6991 support next. On the upside, break of 0.7315 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 0.7477 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, with 0.6991 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.7051) intact, we’re seeing price action from 0.8006 as a correction only. That is, up trend from 0.5506 low would resume after the correction completes. In that case, main focus will be 0.8135 key resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there will carry larger bullish implications. However, sustained break of 0.6991 will argue that the whole medium term trend has indeed reversed.

AUD/USD’s break of 0.7472 support revives that case that whole rise from 0.7150 is completed at 0.7748. Intraday bias is turned back to the downside. Deeper fall is now anticipated back to test 0.7144/58 key near term support zone. On the upside, break of 0.7609 resistance is now needed to indicate completion of the fall from 0.7748. Otherwise, outlook will stay mildly bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a correction. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 0.9504 to 0.6826 at 0.7849 holds, long term down trend from 1.1079 is expected to resume sooner or later. Break of 0.6826 low will target 0.6008 key support level. However, firm break of 0.7849 will indicate that rise from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rebound, rather than a sideway pattern. In such case, stronger rise should be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.8144) and above.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains on the upside as the rise from 0.7490 is extending to as high as 0.7728 so far. As noted before, the whole rally from 0.7158 is likely resuming. Break of 0.7740 resistance will confirm this case and target 61.8% projection of 0.7158 to 0.7740 from 0.7490 at 0.7850 next. That coincides with key long term retracement level at 0.7849. At this point, we’d expect strong resistance from 0.7849/50 to limit upside and bring reversal. On the downside, below 0.7662 minor support will turn bias neutral first. But break of 0.7490 is needed to indicate reversal. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, we’re still treating price actions from 0.6826 low as a correction. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 0.9504 to 0.6826 at 0.7849 holds, long term down trend from 1.1079 is expected to resume sooner or later. With 0.7523 support intact, further rally is seen in AUD/USD for 0.7748 resistance and above. At this point, there is no clear sign of range breakout at. Hence, we’d be cautious on topping again as it approaches medium term fibonacci level at 0.7849. Meanwhile, break of 0.7523 will argue that rebound from 0.7328 is possibly completed. In that case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 0.7370 support.

AUD/USD continues to stay in consolidation below 0.7988 and intraday bias remains neutral. Near term outlook remains bullish as long as 0.7785 support holds and another rise is expected. Break of 0.7988 will target 100% projection of 0.6826 to 0.7833 from 0.7328 at 0.8335 next. However, break of 0.7785 will argue that deeper pull back in under way and could target 55 day EMA (now at 0.7658).

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that rebound from 0.6826 is developing into a medium term rise. There is no confirmation of trend reversal yet and we’ll continue to treat such rebound as a corrective pattern. AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD edged lower to 0.7531 last week but formed short term bottom there and recovered. Initial bias remains neutral this week for more consolidation. After all, as long as 0.7729 resistance holds, near term outlook remains bearish and further decline is expected. Break of 0.7531 will resume whole decline from 0.8124 and target next key cluster level at 0.7322/8. . However, considering bullish divergence condition in 4 hour MACD, break of 0.7729 will indicate near term reversal and bring stronger rebound back to 0.7896 resistance and above.

In the bigger picture, corrective rise from 0.6826 medium term bottom is likely completed at 0.8124, after hitting 55 month EMA (now at 0.8049). Decisive break of 0.7328 key cluster support (61.8% retracement 0.6826 to 0.8124 at 0.7322) will confirm. And in that case, long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) will likely be resuming. In the longer term picture, 0.6826 is seen as a long term bottom. Rise from there could either reverse the down trend from 1.1079, or just develop into a corrective pattern. At this point, we’re favoring the latter. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 holds, we’d anticipate another decline through 0.6826 at a later stage. Fall from 0.7156 (2023 high) is seen as the second leg, which could have completed at 0.6269 already. Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral for the moment. Another rise is mildly in favor and break of 0.7896 will target a test on 0.8124 high. Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, firm break of 0.7168 resistance will suggest that the corrective decline from 0.7295 has completed at 0.7003 already. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside to resume the rebound from 0.6722 through 0.7295. On the downside, though, sustained break of 0.7052 will target 0.7004 first. In the bigger picture, as long as 0.7393 resistance holds, fall from 0.8135 is still expected to extend. Such decline is seen as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume the down trend to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7393 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed.
