AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s strong rebound and break of 0.7243 resistance last week argues that consolidation pattern from 0.7413 has completed at 0.6991 already. Further rise is expected this week for retesting 0.7413 first. Firm break there will resume larger rally from 0.5506. On the downside, however, break of 0.7144 minor support will mix up the near term outlook and turn focus back to 0.6991 support.

In the bigger picture, while rebound from 0.5506 was strong, there is not enough evidence to confirm bullish trend reversal yet. That is, it could be just a correction inside the long term down trend. Sustained trading back below 55 week EMA (now at 0.6969) will favor the bearish case and argue that the rebound has completed. Focus will be turned back to 0.5506 low. On the upside, break of 0.7413 will extend the rise from 0.5506 to 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635.

In the longer term picture, bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD is a condition for long term bullish reversal. Yet, AUD/USD struggled to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 0.7302). It’s also limited below 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635. Hence, there is not enough evidence for reversal yet. Down trend from 1.1079 could still extend through 0.5506 at a later stage.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD stays neutral first. In case of another fall, through 0.7105, we’d continue to look for strong support from 0.6991/7051 support zone to bring rebound. On the upside break of 0.7288 support turned resistance will indicate short term bottoming, and turn bias back to the upside for 0.7425 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, rise from 0.5506 medium term bottom could have completed at 0.8006, after failing 0.8135 key resistance. Correction from there could target 0.6991 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.7051). We’d look for strong support from there to bring rebound. However, sustained break of this level would argue that the whole medium term trend has indeed reversed. Deeper decline would be seen to 61.8% retracement at 0.6461.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

AUD/USD is still bounded in consolidation above 0.7642 and intraday bias stays neutral. Another recovery cannot be ruled out. But outlook stays bearish with 0.7784 resistance holds. On the downside, break of 0.7642 will turn bias to the downside to extend recent fall from 0.8135 to retest 0.7500 key support level. On the upside, however, break of 0.7784 will suggest near term reversal and turn bias to the upside for 0.7915 resistance first.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. It might still extend higher but we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption. On the downside, break of 0.7500 support will now be an important signal that such corrective rebound is completed. In that case, AUD/USD would be heading back to 0.6826 low in medium term.

AUD/USD Weekly Report

AUD/USD’s rebound from 0.6269 continued last week, and late breach of 0.6674 temporary top suggests that it’s resuming after brief retreat. Initial bias is back on the upside this week. Sustained break break of channel resistance (now at 0.6661) will argue that whole decline from 0.7156 has completed with three waves down to 0.6269. Further rally should then be seen to 0.6894 resistance for confirmation. However, break of 0.6570 support will indicate rejection by the channel and turn bias back to the downside.

In the bigger picture, there is no confirmation that down trend from 0.8006 (2021 high) has completed. price actions from 0.6169 (2022 low) could be just a medium term corrective pattern, with rise from 0.6269 as the third leg. For now, range trading should be seen between 0.6169 and 0.7156 (2023 high), until further developments.

In the long term picture, the down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) should have completed at 0.5506(2020 low) already. It’s unsure yet whether price actions from 0.5506 are developing into a corrective pattern, or trend reversal. But in either case, fall from 0.8006 is seen the second leg of the pattern. Hence, in case of deeper decline, downside strong support should emerge above 0.5506 to bring reversal.

AUD/USD’s fall from 0.7243 resumes after brief recovery and intraday bias is back on the downside for 0.7005 support. Break there will confirm resumption of whole corrective fall from 0.7413. Next target will be 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7413 at 0.6685. This will now remain the favored case as long as 0.7114 minor resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, while rebound from 0.5506 was strong, there is not enough evidence to confirm bullish trend reversal yet. That is, it could be just a correction inside the long term down trend. Sustained trading back below 55 week EMA (now at 0.6916) will favor the bearish case and argue that the rebound has completed. Focus will be turned back to 0.5506 low. On the upside, break of 0.7413 will extend the rise from 0.5506 to 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635.

AUD/USD is still bounded in consolidation from 0.7642 temporary low and intraday bias stays neutral first. With 0.7784 resistance intact, near term outlook stays bearish and deeper decline is expected. On the downside, break of 0.7642 to will turn bias to the downside to extend recent fall from 0.8135 to retest 0.7500 key support level.

AUD/USD’s break of 0.7641 resistance turned support now suggests that deeper correction is underway. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 38.2% retracement of 0.6991 to 0.7819 at 0.7503. Overall, the up trend from 0.5506 would remain intact as long as 0.7413 resistance turned support holds. Another rise is still in favor at a later stage to 61.8% projection of 0.5506 to 0.7413 from 0.6991 at 0.8170.

In the bigger picture, whole down trend from 1.1079 (2001 high) should have completed at 0.5506 (2020 low) already. Rise from 0.5506 could either the start of a long term up trend, or a corrective rise. Reactions to 0.8135 key resistance will reveal which case it is. But in any case, medium term rally is expected to continue as long as 0.7413 resistance turned support holds.

AUD/USD’s fall from 0.7243 extends lower but stays above 0.7095 support. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Another rise could still be seen as long as 0.7095 support holds. On the upside, above 0.7243 will extend the rebound from 0.7005 to retest 0.7413 high. Decisive break there will resume larger rise form 0.5506 to 0.7635 fibonacci level. However, firm break of 0.7095 will argue that corrective fall from 0.7413 is resuming. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 0.7005, and then 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7413 at 0.6685.

In the bigger picture, while rebound from 0.5506 was strong, there is not enough evidence to confirm bullish trend reversal yet. That is, it could be just a corrective inside the long term up trend. Sustained trading back below 55 week EMA (now at 0.6898) will favor the bearish case and argue that the rebound has completed. Focus will be turned back to 0.5506 low. On the upside, break of 0.7413 will extend the rise from 0.5506 to 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD dipped notably last week but stayed above 0.7081 support. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. On the downside, break of 0.7081 support will indicate that corrective rebound from 0.6992 has completed with three waves up to 0.7277, after hitting 55 day EMA. Intraday bias will be back on the downside for retesting 0.6991/2 support zone. Firm break there will resume larger down trend from 0.8006. On the upside, though, break of 0.7277 will turn bias to the upside to resume the rebound.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 0.6991 key structural support will retain medium term bullishness. That is, whole up trend from 0.5506 is still in progress. Firm break of 0.7555 resistance will target 0.8006 high and above. However, sustained break of 0.6991 will argue that the whole up trend from 0.5506 might be finished at 0.8006, after rejection by 0.8135 long term resistance. Deeper decline would then be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.6461.

In the longer term picture, focus remains on 0.8135 structural resistance. Decisive break there will argue that rise from 0.5506 is developing into a long term up trend that reverses whole down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). However, rejection by 0.8135 will keep long term outlook neutral at best.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD edged lower to 0.7411 last week but formed a short term bottom there and rebounded. Initial bias is mildly on the upside this week for recovery to 0.7642 support turned resistance. But we’d expect upside to be limited by 38.2% retracement of 0.8135 to 0.7144 at 0.7688 to bring fall resumption. Below 0.7411 will resumed the fall from 0.8135 and target cluster support at 0.7328 (61.8% retracement of 0.6826 to 0.8135 at 0.7326).

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. Decisive break of 0.7500 key support suggests that such correction is completed at 0.8135. Deeper decline would be seen back to retest 0.6826 low. In case of another rise, we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption eventually.

In the longer term picture, 0.6826 is seen as a long term bottom. Rise from there could either reverse the down trend from 1.1079, or just develop into a corrective pattern. At this point, we’re favoring the latter. And, as long as 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 holds, we’d anticipate another decline through 0.6826 at a later stage. But strong support should be seen between 0.4773 (2001 low) and 0.6008 (2008 low).

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD’s strong rebound last week suggests that 0.6991 key structural support was defended for now. Initial bias is mildly on the upside this week for 55 day EMA (now at 0.7269). On the downside, however, break of 0.7116 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 0.6991. Sustained break there will carry larger bearish implication.

In the bigger picture, sustained break of 0.6991 cluster support will argue that the who up trend from 0.5506 might be finished at 0.8006, after rejection by 0.8135 long term resistance. Deeper decline would then be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.8006 at 0.6461). For now, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 0.7555 resistance holds, in case of rebound.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral for the moment. We’d still expect correction from 0.7064 short term top to extend with another decline. Break of 0.6776 will target 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7064 at 0.6469. Nevertheless, sustained break of 0.7064 will resume whole rise from 0.5506 instead.

In the bigger picture, rebound from 0.5506 medium term bottom could be correcting whole long term down trend form 1.1079 (2011 high). Further rally would be seen to 55 month EMA (now at 0.7340). This will remain the preferred case as long as it stays above 55 week EMA (now at 0.6727). Sustained trading below 55 week EMA will turn focus back to 0.5506 low instead.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD stays neutral as it’s bounded in consolidation above 0.7642 temporary low. More sideway trading would be seen and stronger recovery cannot be ruled out. Still, near term outlook stays bearish as long as 0.7784 resistance holds, and further decline is expected. Break of 0.7642 will extend recent fall from 0.8135 to retest 0.7500 key support level.

Intraday bias in AUD/USD remains neutral as this point as range trading continues above 0.7411. Stronger rebound cannot be ruled out. But upside should be limited by 38.2% retracement of 0.8135 to 0.7144 at 0.7688 to bring decline resumption eventually. On the downside, break of 0.7411 will resume the fall from 0.8135 and target cluster support at 0.7328 (61.8% retracement of 0.6826 to 0.8135 at 0.7326).

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. Break of 0.7500 key support suggests that such correction is completed at 0.8135. Deeper decline would be seen back to retest 0.6826 low. AUD/USD’s break of 0.7671 indicates resumption of whole fall from 0.8135. Intraday bias is turned back to the downside for 0.7500 key support level next. At this point, we’ll stay cautious on strong support from there to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 0.7784 minor resistance is needed to be the first sign of near term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 0.6826 is seen as a corrective move. It might still extend higher but we’d expect strong resistance from 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 to 0.6826 at 0.8451 to limit upside to bring long term down trend resumption. No change in AUD/USD’s outlook. With 0.7784 minor resistance intact, further decline is expected. Current fall fro 0.8135 would target a test on 0.7500 key support level. At this point, we’ll stay cautious on strong support from there to bring rebound.

AUD/USD Weekly Outlook

AUD/USD recovered ahead of 0.7005 last week but upside was limited well below 0.7243 resistance so far. Initial bias stays neutral this week first and further fall is mildly in favor with 0.7243 resistance intact. On the downside, break of 0.7005 will resume the corrective fall from 0.7413, and target 38.2% retracement of 0.5506 to 0.7413 at 0.6685. However, firm break of 0.7243 will bring retest of 0.7413 high.

In the longer term picture, bullish convergence condition in monthly MACD is a condition for long term bullish reversal. Yet, AUD/USD struggled to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 0.7306). It’s also limited below 38.2% retracement of 1.1079 (2011 high) to 0.5506 (2020 low) at 0.7635. Hence, there is not enough evidence for reversal yet. Down trend from 1.1079 could still extend through 0.5506 at a later stage.

AUD/USD failed to sustain above 0.7892 resistance and topped at 0.7915. Subsequent sharp fall now turns focus back to 0.7772 minor support. Break there will likely resume the decline from 0.8135 through 0.7712. In that case, AUD/USD should target 0.7500 key support next. On the upside, break of 0.7915 resistance will revive the case of near term reversal. And, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 0.8135 top.

AUD/USD Daily Outlook

AUD/USD rises strongly today and focus is now on 0.7121 minor resistance. Firm break there will argue that decline from 0.7295 has completed at 0.7003. In that case, further rise should be seen to 0.7206 resistance to confirm. More importantly, in that case, corrective three wave structure of the fall fro 0.7296 to 0.7003 would suggest that rise from 0.6722 low is extending through 0.7295. On the downside, though, break of 0.7003 will extend the fall from 0.7295 to 61.8% retracement of 0.6722 to 0.7295 at 0.6941 and below.

In the bigger picture, as long as 0.7393 resistance holds, we’d treat fall from 0.8135 as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume the down trend to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7393 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed. And corrective pattern from 0.6826 has started the third leg, targeting 0.8135 again.
