As suggested in the CFTC Commitments of Traders report in the week ended September 3, NET LENGTH in USD Index added +1 839 contracts to 31 336. Speculative long positions rose +6 308 contracts and short positions also added +4 469 contracts. Greenback becomes directionless ahead of the FOMC meeting next week. Concerning European currencies, NET SHORT for EUR futures jumped +10 332 contracts to 49 136. NET SHORT for GBP futures plunged -4 069 contracts to 84 959. Speculative long positions added +552 contracts while speculative shorts diminished -3 517. The market was relieved temporarily at the parliament rejected no deal Brexit. Yet, the risk is still not removed.
On safe-haven currencies, Net SHORT for CHF futures added +2 039 contracts to 5 839. NET LENGTH for JPY futures declined -5 925 contracts to 27 682 during the week. Speculative long positions dropped -2 573 contracts while shorts also gained +3 352 contracts.
On commodity currencies, NET SHORT for AUD futures dropped -1 714 contracts to 59 318. Speculative long positions decreased +2 239 contracts while shorts slipped -525 contracts. Separately, NET SHORT for NZD gained +4 629 contracts to 30 676 contracts last week. NET LENGTH for CAD futures dropped -5 556 contracts to 5 349.
